Disposing of your batteries responsibly
European Security Partners Ltd. only supply batteries as part of a pre-supplied package
which is shipped directly from the manufacturers. We do not sell any type of battery
separately. This page is intended to help users of pre-packaged and supplied batteries to
dispose of them carefully and responsibly.
The only user-replaceable batteries currently supplied by Eu-SP Ltd. are those packaged for
use with remote controls for the following products:
•
LG Digital Video Recorders (DVRs)
•
LG Display Monitors and Televisions
•
Nextmate Digital Video Recorders (DVRs)
The above products in themselves do not have user-replaceable batteries, only the remote
control handset batteries can be replaced by a user.
The type of batteries most commonly found in these handsets are classified as “Portable
batteries” by the Environment Agency and current WEEE legislation and are of the following
type:
•
AA Alkaline batteries
•
AAA Alkaline batteries
No rechargeable batteries are supplied or used for this purpose and we do not recommend
the use of this type of battery in our products.
Some guidelines on replacing batteries:
•
Upon removing the battery compartment cover, check for signs
of leakage from the batteries. Exercise extreme caution should
any signs of leakage be present (milky white substance,
discolouration of the battery jacket itself), as this substance can
be corrosive and poisonous. Wash your hands immediately with
cold water should you come into contact with this substance.
•
NEVER dispose of batteries in a fire or other heat source.
Batteries can explode in such conditions.
•
Do NOT dispose of batteries in normal household waste
(kitchen waste for example). Batteries contain compounds
which are harmful to the environment. Batteries can usually be
disposed of at your local household waste site, where there is
often a special waste deposit area for batteries of different
types. Contact your local household waste site for details.
•
Supermarkets sometimes have battery recycling points in foyer
areas. Ask at reception/ Customer services of your nearest store
for details.
•
By disposing of batteries correctly, you are ensuring that
potentially harmful substances and compounds are processed
correctly and recycled wherever possible, therefore reducing
the amount of harmful waste entering UK landfill.
Please dispose of batteries responsibly!
